What is better than a romance novel with a happily ever after? A romance novel with TWO HEA's!! This author's easy, familiar style washes over the reader throughout the story's comfortable and low-key angst, once-in-a-lifetime love, and the unconditional acceptance and support of family and friends. Jack and his younger sister, PJ, both find their forever love in two very different stories told from four points of view.
It’s a bold, risky move for an author to break from formula and try something new, so I give Ms. Rose props for taking this chance. I suspect there will be some readers who prefer their romance with a single storyline, but for me, it was a breath of fresh air and I feel like I got double my money's worth. The dual plots hooked me in quickly and I had no issue at all with the smooth transitions from one point of view to another.
Not only do we get to revisit some characters from previous books and get the next generation's stories, Rose throws in enough tropes to keep every reader engaged – unrequited love, taboo older man/younger woman, brother's best friend, and one I won’t mention in case it’s a spoiler. But the real beauty of her work shows in the writing, in her ability to connect the reader with the characters, a pacing that carries the reader along effortlessly, and the vast array of emotions her words evoke. With enough drama that never quite manages to douse the thread of hope, double the terrific chemistry and lots of tugs at the heart, Think Twice is a phenomenal must read!
