Kissing Jenna by Kristen Proby
Kissing Jenna by Kristen Proby
Series:Big Sky #2
Release Date: July 10, 2018
Synopsis: From New York Times Bestselling Author Kristen Proby comes the newest installment in her beloved Big Sky Series…
Jenna Hull owns and manages vacation rentals in her hometown of Cunningham Falls, Montana. She’s just completed the construction of her most exhausting project, the one she’s put her heart and soul into. The inviting, opulent Snow Wolf Cottages are the first ski in/ski out tree houses in the world.
Her biggest dream is about to come true, and she can’t let anything distract her.
Christian Wolfe is Hollywood’s it actor. If the magazines are to be believed, he’s the sexiest man on earth. He’s preparing for the biggest movie role of his life, and his agent has booked him in a hot new ski lodge in Montana, tucked away from crazy fans. He can’t wait for the break.
But what Christian isn’t prepared for is Jenna. With a face that could easily co-star with him in a movie and her ambition to put her stamp on Cunningham Falls, he can’t stay away. But even more intriguing than her beauty is the fact that she’s not at all impressed with his celebrity status, only turned on by the man behind the fame.
The love they’ve found is perfect—but time is running out before real life intrudes. Can they survive with both their dreams—and hearts—intact?
Since reading my first With Me novel I've been a Proby fan, and I immediately fell in love with the Big Sky world and the wonderful characters who live there. Jenna is the younger sister of Brad (from Charming Hannah) and she owns some pretty amazing tree house rentals by the ski resort. She rents one of her units for a month to a Mr. Flint Stone, who turns out to be none other than Hollywood hottie, Christian Wolfe. Although he’s there to learn to ski for his next movie role, Montana and Jenna are the breath of fresh air his guarded, stagnant life needs.
We can always count on Proby for a fun, lighthearted read with sizzling chemistry and low-key angst. I was glad to get my hands on an early copy of this book and I loved everything about it. The warmth, friendship and sense of community between this Big Sky “family" will make the loneliest reader feel a sense of belonging as these wonderful characters take you on their journey. Jenna is strong, intelligent, warm and compassionate, with a slight Type A personality flaw that makes her all the more endearing. Away from the glitz and glam of his manufactured life, Christian gets a chance to be his authentic self, and it’s pretty amazing that such a great guy still exists in spite of all the Hollywood pressures. Of course, they’re amazing together and exactly what the other needs.
I love these interconnected stand alones, because it feels like returning to a favorite vacation spot and catching up with old friends. They really can be read in any order since Proby gives enough details on peripheral characters so the reader doesn’t feel lost. With things like the tabloids stirring up trouble, a wildlife mishap on an icy road, and a well meaning, over protective, interfering sister, there’s plenty happening to keep the reader's interest throughout the book. If you like your romance fun and easy but steamy and heartfelt, you’ll love Kissing Jenna!
Kristen was born and raised in a small resort town in her beloved Montana. In her mid-twenties, she decided to stretch her wings and move to the Pacific Northwest, where she made her home for more than a dozen years.
During that time, Kristen wrote many romance novels and joined organizations such as RWA and other small writing groups. She spent countless hours in workshops, and more mornings than she can count up before the dawn so she could write before going to work. She submitted many manuscripts to agents and editors alike, but was always told no. In the summer of 2012, the self-publishing scene was new and thriving, and Kristen had one goal: to publish just one book. It was something she longed to cross off of her bucket list.
Not only did she publish one book, she’s since published close to thirty titles, many of which have hit the USA Today, New York Times and Wall Street Journal Bestsellers lists. She continues to self publish, best known for her With Me In Seattle and Boudreaux series, and is also proud to work with William Morrow, a division of HarperCollins, with the Fusion Series.
Kristen and her husband, John, make their home in her hometown of Whitefish, Montana with their two pugs and two cats.
Alternate title: The Itty Bitty Reader Takes On the Marketplace Monopoly Giant
If you do any advance copy reading of books or are in any book groups or authors’ groups on Facebook, you’ve probably seen authors and readers alike discussing their reviews disappearing from Amazon recently. Not long ago, all my reviews were deleted by Amazon, and I'll share some suggestions on what to do, should you find yourself in this situation, and some tips on how to hopefully avoid it happening to you in the future.
Sadly, Amazon’s review system, especially for books, isn’t perfect and there are certainly abuses to it, but reviews really are critical to both authors and readers. For authors, the more reviews their book has, the more notice it gets, which translates to more sales. For readers, reviews hopefully give us accurate information so we can decide if a book is worth our time and money or if we should just move along to the next one.
I’ve been reading advance copies and reviewing for a…
If you haven't yet read Pippa Grant, you're really missing out! With titles like Stud in the Stacks,Mr. McHottie, The Pilot and the Puck-Up,and her latest, Royally Pucked,(available 4/6/18) this author is either slightly deranged, incredibly clever, or maybe a bit of both. The series is loosely based on hockey-playing twin brothers, Zeus and Aries, their sister, friends and teammates. Zeus and Aries are gentle giants with unique, memorable personalities and shenanigans somehow seem to surround them.
One thing is sure. You've never had a reading experience like Ms. Grant delivers. I've read a lot of rom-coms, but her books are an entire family, interactive experience. Provided you're reading in the company of family.
I'm going to let you in on a little secret about me. I read a lot. I mean A LOT. I've done over 450 book reviews in the last year, and there are another 10 to 20 in that time that I read and didn't review. As you can imagine, they all blur together, and only the truly exceptional authors and works leave an indelible mark on me. Jaxson Kidman is one of those authors.
But I have yet to begin to figure him out. It's undeniably evident he gives everything of himself to every work. His work is vulnerable. It's transparent. It's authentic. His pain, his tragedies and his triumphs are all there, laid bare for the reader to experience. Why? That's the part I don't understand. Why would anyone be willing to flay himself open for the whole world to see? It could be that it's cathartic. Perhaps it's a way of exorcising demons. Some might say it's a gimmick to sell books, but anyone who has read his work knows that's not the case. What I do know i…
