My Review
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Once again we have a funny, emotive, phenomenal romantic comedy centered on the pizzeria, Slice, in a small beach town in North Carolina, and I was so tickled to return to this pizza-loving community. This one sliced up my heart more than chopped and diced pizza toppings. I adore all things Porter, Dory and seven-year-old Kyrie.

Porter Jones has recently moved to the east coast to be near his best friend and have his daughter grow up in a place close to his heart. In setting up to run his California business from his new home, he needs to hire an assistant as well as a nanny for Kyrie. The assistant is easy peasy, but the nanny proves problematic since his first choice turns out to be the woman he just had a rare one-night stand with the previous night.

Dory Palmer has fought and scraped for everything since the age of sixteen. Her goal is to go to college and become a social worker, and the nanny job will allow her to quit her three part-time jobs and work towards her goal. When she discovers that Porter is the one who's hiring, she sees her dreams disintegrate before her eyes. But they had agreed their night together would be just that, one night that included no kissing and no feelings, so maybe it’s possible for them to be professional going forward.

I got the biggest kick out of watching these two together. Those declarations of “we can be professional," or “we're just friends" signal to me that it's going to be highly entertaining watching them fall. Obviously Porter and Dory fall, and I had the biggest grin on my face throughout most of their story. Add a precocious, smart, unfiltered seven-year-old with an attitude, and stick a fork in me because I’m done.

These three wound their way around my heart and I gobbled up every word of their story. This whole series is amazing, and Porter and Dory's story is the perfect addition. Outrageously funny, a nice dose of steam, and plenty of heartstring pulls, this delightful, engaging, feel-good story is not to be missed!

I'm a Missouri-raised gal, but currently live in North Carolina with my US Marine husband and 9-year-old dog. I spend my days begging him for a cat, and I survive off coffee, pizza, and sarcasm.
